The Garden Patch – with over three decades of operation in Columbus, NC. Jeanine Gauen is the third owner of The Garden Patch, taking over the business as of January 2008. All our plants are purchased from state-certified nursery suppliers located within our local gardening zone to ensure minimum plant shock in transition from the growers to our customers. Our proximity and focused local flavor provide convenience and a friendly venue, which helps our customers avoid long gas guzzling drives while enjoying broad plant and accessory selections, personalized services and outstanding values.
Our Business Strategy is to provide a wide variety of healthy plants, including houseplants, at attractive prices and to offer expert consultative gardening advice with each sale. The friendliness and helpful in-depth knowledge of our staff sets us apart from many others since we view ourselves as “Solvers of Problems and Sellers of Solutions”. We carry a large variety of bird seed and bird feeders – primarily Cole’s, Brome and Droll Yankee – as well as Daddy Pete’s soil amendments and various specialized fertilizers (including organic Espoma products). We also stock many gardening tools and accessories such as Dramm watering equipment, and Corinthian Bells. For decorative and functional gardening containers we carry Burly Clay and Deroma brands as well as other premium planters, containers and birdbaths. We also feature freshly cut Fraser Fir Christmas trees. These are premium, hand selected trees cut at dawn the same day we receive them and we stand them in water to await pick up. Although we do inventory just a few extra trees, essentially we only sell trees ordered in advance by our customers.
We are always delighted to assist helping load your purchases into your vehicle, but we do not accept tips. Although we do not deliver or plant, we can generally arrange for those services by our outside contractors who work with you directly. We are not paid by them, but before we recommend them to you we insist on knowing they charge fairly and that they have necessary knowledge and tools to perform the work correctly.
